The Emperor Arrives

This picture was actually not taken while I was enrolled in the photo class, but rather just before it. I went to Antartica this past December and ran into an Emperor Penguin in the Weddell Sea. So many have commented on this image that I would be remiss if I did not include it. Enjoy!

Union Station @ the Postal Musem

I've walked past this area hundreds of times in my 10 years or so in DC and I always wanted to take a picture of it. I really like how the columns and dome appear to multiply into infinity and lead up to the postal museum door. What do you think?

Peace and Quiet in a Garden

One more picture of to represent the quiet scenery. This was taken at "Mary's Garden" near the National Shine. I really like the reflection in this image and it sets a nice tone with the statue of a mother holding her son close to heart.

Depth of Field and the Botanic Garden

Ah, a nice quiet picture to contrast with the craziness that is Vegas and a urban fish market. Here is a picture I took back in January that shows depth of field at the US Botanic Garden.

Images of A New Home

I was looking to add a few more photos recently so I took the image outside my new Condo that I closed on last week. I like this image because of the angle of the multiple fountains and the black-white contrast.

Images of a New Home: Steamed Crabs on a Hot Day

As I mentioned, I recently moved into my own condo. After six years of living in Arlington, I moved into Southeast DC, neavy the Navy Yard. CLoseby is the Waterfront and fish market. I liked this picture because its such a contrast with the calm photos of the garden and waters also posted here. I also like this image of the steamed crabs because I was able to capture the steam in the image itself.

Vegas in Gold

I was about to toss this image as I really didn't care about how the light made the image so yellow but then I found another use for it: the yellow makes the Eifel Tower and the Paris casino look "golden." So, the color matches the Vegas money theme: and who doesn't want to strike it rich and "go for the gold" when out in Vegas?

DC: A Busy Market

Here's another picture of the busy Waterfront fish market, which is close by to where I now live. Again, I took this picture not so much for quality for for a contrast to the other images on this blog. I think the hectic busy neature that is this fish market are really evident in the image of a guy moving and dumping crabs by the trashbag-full!

Vegas: Images of Speed

More of My Vegas Vacation, Mr. Battista's Encore Performance

This was the "runner up" to the "Celebration" image that I posted in the threaded discussion board. Here's another shot of Mr. Battista the owner of Battista's Hole-in-the-Wall Italian eatery. I call this photo his encore performance.

The Fountains of Bellagio, Take 3

Another picture of the fountains of Bellagio. While it may seem lame to take the same picture over and over again, I included all these images to give you a sense of what the different stages are in the water show that is set to music. Here is an image of the the water spurts just getting started as they get very misty.

The Fountains of Bellagio, Take 2

Similiar to the one below, I like this photo because of the way the spurts of water are lighted by the lights and how they twirl. If you have never been out to Vegas to see the hal-hour show "The Fountains of Bellagio" its a must see. Very romantic and all around incredible work of "water art."

The Fountains of Bellagio, Take 1

This is one of the pictures I took from the "celebration" assignment. Having this blog is such a great idea as it gives the opportunity to show some of the photos that never made "the cut." I like this image because of the way the spikes of water show up. What do you think? Let me know your thoughts.
